Faith in what?
Check out this statement from Peter after the crippled beggar was healed.
Acts 3:16
And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
After 40 years of being unable to walk, the beggar is miraculously healed and people started to look at the disciples with wonder and amazement. Peter said the miracle came from faith in the name of Jesus. He didn't believe for healing to do this, he simply believed in the name of Jesus.
We please God with our faith.
How does believing for a car, money, house, husband or wife please God? I just don't see how it can if we are missing seeing Jesus daily. I asked
myself this question a few weeks ago and couldn't answer it. So I decided to make my one and only faith project to see Jesus. I believe that the only way to please God is to have faith in Jesus. Old faith projects have now been named a little more appropriately; I now call them my hope projects. This small change in my perspective has REVOLUTIONALIZED my faith and is really transforming my life!
Mmmm, hope projects, nice thought! So if what you are hoping for is the desires of your heart, who gives you the desires of your heart? Jesus right Faith is believing in Jesus who gives you the desires of your heart. For me faith is not believing for stuff and hoping that Jesus will provide them. That just seems mixed up to me! why? Because I don't see Jesus anywhere in that. If I say, "I am believing for healing," where is Jesus in that statement? It almost seems like a generic "Christanese" statement that has been programmed into us.
What about, "Seek ye first the kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you"? I think that when you start to believe for stuff you actually run the risk of bypassing God's order for blessing you. You make it about the blessing instead of the Blesser, which negates the whole thing. How do actually and honestly expect God to add the miraculous to you when you are not seeking first the Kingdom? And if you are actually seeking first the Kingdom, then things would be manifested right? Let's face it, the miraculous certainly seems to follow the Kenneth Copeland's of the world around. He is part of a group of okes who dedicate everything they are to the Kingdom. Of course they will get the stuff they ask God for. I don't think that it's their believing for things that gets the stuff but rather their believing in.
It just seems like a no-brainer to make God your faith project and let Him actually take care of you. The Word says that His will is perfect for you. For me, the preaching of the gospel is the Word of faith.
